Lizzo is giving a loud and clear message to those whom it may concern in the state of Tennessee.
The plus-size singer and entertainer want the world to know that it’s not okay to ban minorities in a country that stands for freedom of expression and human rights.
Therefore, the star stunned audience members when she chose to perform with drag performers on stage, breaking the state’s anti-drag law.
The 34-year-old hitmaker performed on a number of leading tracks that were her favorite. And she simply could not afford to waste a minute thinking about what the consequences of her actions could be.
For those who may not be aware, the state of Tennessee forbids cabaret entertainment for adults on private property or in those places that could be viewed by minors.
Since then, the law has been blocked on a temporary basis by the judge but a lot of citizens have raised their voices on the matter. They protest against it and they felt it was time for change as it was not fair for the drag community. And one of them happens to be Lizzo who was seen celebrating drag performers and calling their profession true art.
Lizzo was not afraid to speak her mind on the matter. She revealed how it’s not alright for this to happen and she even shared with the audience on the stage that she was even stopped and prevented from performing. They told her not to go to the state as she would face a lot of opposition.
But she said that this can’t happen and she would need to show support and bring change before it’s too late.
“People had their reservations and their reasons were valid but how could I not come and show support for this community”- she explained.
