Brittney Griner was recently seen breaking down into tears after her first press conference since her release from a Russian prison.
According to reports from local media outlets, the star NBA player just could not control her emotions and it was hard for her to hold back her tears during the high-profile media event.
Griner was surrounded by journalists from leading media agencies and people just started to throw out all sorts of questions.
It looked like a clearly overwhelming situation for obvious reasons. And that’s when the star just could not keep her calm and cool and began to cry.
As expected, it’s been a rough time for the women’s NBA player who has really tried to take some time out and get herself together.
It all started when the 32-year-old reportedly recognized one of the reporters from the top media outlet Phoenix Mercury. She happened to be a part of the first press conference for Griner and her team.
And that flashback really put a lot of things into perspective at that moment in time. That one woman really made her realize how tough her journey has been and how far along she’s come.
This was reportedly the first time that we saw Griner speak to reporters ever since she was detained in Russia.
She was given the chance to clear the air and provide her side of the story which she was really having trouble doing, as one can imagine. Living through the same train of thought, she went back down memory lane and tried to give her best shot at providing answers that journalists were content with.
Griner really couldn’t stop crying when she was asked to reveal how she found the strength to go through so much pain alone inside a prison in Russia, knowing how the relations between that country and hers weren’t on good terms.
And that’s when she said, ‘You’re crying and now you made me cry too!”- with a smile.
