The leading celeb from the Hollywood industry was quick to mention how important of a role parental figures have been and today, she’s left with just one.
That included a top-notch director from the film industry, Steven Spielberg. In the same way, the star went on to speak about how Steven has been in her life since 1982 and is also her Godfather.
The celeb was seen getting a little bit emotional too, recalling all the moments in her life when she felt alone because her parents were not by her side. But Steven did everything and more to make sure she never felt that void in her life.
Reports spoke about how the actor requested the famed Hollywood legend to be her Godfather while she happened to be filming the famous ET movie. And today, the star says she is beyond grateful for the huge impact that he’s had on her life, since a very young age.
The starlet similarly admitted to feeling lost and some days being harder than ever. But she never let that get to her. Moreover, you’ll see the star speak about how hard she has worked over time, and without a figure over her head, nothing would be possible.
Spielberg shed light on how he really did keep her in check. This meant saying no to going out late at night and attending parties that he felt she should not be attending.
As a whole, it was something that needed time and care, and affection. And being her godfather meant the Hollywood director had a huge responsibility on his shoulders.
Barrymore has gone on to recall that she has not had the best childhood. Her dad was very abusive toward her from a young age and that included him tossing her into a wall when she was just 3. So anyone that would take this role up was like heaven sent for her.
