Walsh said he was driving the car when they turned down into the wrong driveway. When they realized that their mistake, they immediately turned around.
“We thought we were at the right address,” he said. “We didn’t have any cell service to figure it out. As soon as we figured it out that we were at the wrong location, we started to leave, and that’s when everything happened.”
Welsh said that what happened next was a blur.
“My friend said, ‘they’re shooting. Go!’” he went on. “I tried to step on the gas as fast as I could, and that’s when the fatal shot came through. I want to believe it was instant. I’m hoping it was. I’m praying it was.”
65-year-old Kevin Monahan reportedly fired twice after the car turned into his driveway.
Washington County Sheriff Jeffrey Murphy said that he is alleged to have fired while the group was leaving.
