David Arquette is sharing some striking details about how hard it was for him to deal with his former wife’s fame.
Arquette and Courteney Cox’s marriage was destined for failure but many just couldn’t understand why. But today, Arquette is sharing how some of it might have to do with the fact that his former wife was just so famous after her role in the hit series Friends.
This is the first time that many people saw David opening up about navigating differnet levels of fame in a relationship. Speaking during his recent interview with host Andy Cohen, he revealed how it’s not been a bed of roses for him at all.
On most occasions, he was forced to swallow his pride and put his ego aside because his wife was earning so much more than him and that did blow his mind.
“I always wanted to be the breadwinner. I wished to be the one who brings all the goods home. Sure, it’s great that my wife was making money and bringing for us so we can have a great life but at the same time, I felt bad”- he went on to explain.
And during that time, he just stayed silent. He kept it inside, no matter how bad he felt on the matter.
The star even mentioned how hard it was for him to land a job but it was the opposite case with his wife. She was getting all the hits and earning all the big bucks. And her presence and popularity shadowed his. But there was only so much that he could take.
“I had enough, I could no longer do this over and over again”- he added.
The couple went through a lot of pain and arguments after that, he says. And it was not a happy-go-lucky affair in his case. But today, the duo has a good relationship and they respect one another for who they are.
