A mother shares her shock and humiliation after her daughter was sent home from her job at Chick-fil-A for having racist undertones in her hair and for donning a very unnatural blonde hue.
As expected, her daughter who worked as an employee expressed her displeasure regarding the act and since then, opted to resign and search for another job. And that’s precisely what she got. But looking back, she’s now raising the matter with the public so others don’t have to go through what she did.
The 16-year-old named Autumn Williams shed light on how she worked part-time to earn such extra cash to help with her studies and living expenses. But facing the sort of discrimination that she did regarding her hair color, she had no option but to leave.
At first, she explained how not a lot of things made sense to her. She really didn’t realize what was taking place. Therefore, when her boss pulled her away and told her to step aside for a while, she was informed by the supervisor regarding her hair tone.
“They just told me that I violated the code of conduct and that it was not acceptable. I just did not realize that my hair color would have such a drastic turn of events”- she continued to explain.
The supervisor even had the audacity to reveal how the blonde is really an unnatural tone for her as she was dark-skinned. And until and unless she got every ounce of blonde out of her hair, she would not be allowed to continue at the job.
And if that was not dramatic enough, she was even told in detail about how it’s a long process and may not be too easy for her to remove the dye so soon. So for now, she was being told to leave and whenever she wished to return, she could email them and guarantee that her hair would no longer serve as an issue.
Autumn revealed how everything was just not making sense to her. What was going on and why? She felt embarrassed because this was her hair color that was being discussed in detail. Why was it such a big deal and what did they really want her to do?
