A man accidentally left his wife after a roadside toilet break and continued driving for 100 miles thinking she was sleeping in the back of the vehicle.
55-year-old Boontom Chaimoon and his wife Amnuay Chaimoon, 49, were on their way to her hometown in Maha Sarakham, Thailand, when they stopped at the side of the road to urinate at around 3 am.
But when Amnuay returned to the car, their vehicle was nowhere to be found and she was left stranded.
Without phone or money, Amnuay decided to walk to find help until she found a police station two hours later.
She asked the police to help her find her husband but they couldn’t locate him as she did not memorize his number.
They rang her phone multiple times as it was still in the car but the husband failed to notice it as he was driving peacefully without knowing what’s happening to his wife.
By the time Boontom realized his wife was not in the car, he was already 100 miles away and ahd reached the Korat province before he was finally contacted at 8 am.
He then rushed to pick up his wife and revealed that he thought she was sleeping in the back of the car the entire journey.
Fortunately, his wife forgave him and they did not argue about the mishap.
They have been married for 27 years and share a 26-year-old son.
One person commented: “I thought it would take you five days to walk the 100 miles and by then i’d have sold the house, emptied the bank account and paddled to Panama.”
Another wrote: “He would be bringing me an awful lot of flower bouquets.”
A third said: “And just like that for the first time in his entire life, he felt calm, relax and totally stress free for 100 miles or so…. He will never be able to achieve that serenity level again for the rest of his life…”
