Gymnast Simone Biles has slammed cruel trolls who criticized her appearance on her wedding day.
After announcing their engagement last year, the gymnast and NFL safety Jonathan Owens just tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on Sunday.
The 26-year-old took to Instagram and shared some photos from their big day, captioning the images: “I do. Officially Owens.”
Owens also shared more photos and wrote: “My person, forever,” along with red heart and ring emojis. He also added the hashtags #TheOwens and #ItsOfficial.
Simone shocked her followers with her four-tied wedding dress worth only $120. She matched her gown with Pretty Little Thing sandals and kept her hair pulled back into a ponytail to highlight her face.
But her appearance was quickly criticized by cruel strolls who said that the Olympian should have done something more with her tresses, with one person writing: “Her hair literally looks a mess and you all know that. Y’all be tryne be fake positive so bad.”
Fans were quick to defend Biles, with one tweeting: “So nasty to see how many Black women are coming at Simone Biles’ hair in her wedding photos. There’s nothing wrong with her hair. It’s her natural hair & it looks healthy. I remember folks did the same thing to Gabby Douglas years ago… I guess some things never change…”
Another said: “Imagine sitting on your a** criticizing Simone Biles. Simone is a history maker, Olympian, amazing woman, entrepreneur, beautiful woman, a beautiful soul… and all you can say is ‘she need to do her hair.’ Y’all are nasty as f***.”
And now, Biles has spoken out and slammed her haters.
Taking to Twitter, the gold-medalist said: “I think they also forget I live in HOUSTON TEXAS & I sweat those out!! Soon as we stepped outside for pics but they can keep complaining idc idc idc.”
